The Crazy Coupon Lady is back with a vengeance! I have taken a hiatus for most of the summer, mostly because shopping with both of my boys is what I would call torture. To say that we have used up my freezer/pantry stockpile would be an understatement. We have also eaten out a lot. My grocery trips have been late after my husband gets off work, and were not well thought out trips. Between that and several trips out of town, it has not been a money-saving summer! Anyhoo, my oldest son started school on Monday, and my youngest is spending a few days with my parents, so I got to grocery shop all by myself this morning, and it was glorious, let me tell you! I rolled around the store with my Starbucks at my own leisure, and there were kids screaming, but that didn't bother me, because they weren't my kids!

Swagbucks update

So, yesterday Swagbucks celebrated its 2nd birthday and introduced a revamped website and a new bucks system. I haven't been doing Swagbucks very long, so I wasn't too attached to the old way. However, there seems to be a lot of people upset by all the changes. They multiplied all the bucks by 10, so that if you had 45 bucks on the old system, you now have 450. I was a pretty happy camper to login and see how many bucks I had, until I realized that all the prices to redeem prizes had been multiplied, too. They had a ton of Swagcodes floating around yesterday, so I now have 921 Swagbucks, more than enough for two $5 Amazon gift cards! I am still determined to keep at this until I get enough to buy my Willow Tree Nativity on Amazon! If you haven't signed up yet, check it out! Who doesn't love free stuff?

It's time for Super Doubles at the Teeter! I did pretty well, but it could have been better. A manager walked over and supervised the cashier in my lane, and she was super strict. She would only take one coupon for the 6 Lysol wipes (they were on sale B1G1, and I had three coupons for Buy 2 Get $1 off. Her explanation was that three of them were free, so I couldn't use my other two coupons on them. I checked their policy online, and I don't think that's how it reads, but I wasn't going to argue with her over it. Oh, well.

I've been off the radar for while due to sick kids and a general lack of motivation to even go to the store. We've been either eating out or cooking from the freezer/pantry. Today, I finally got my butt in gear and went to the grocery store. On a side note, Publix has tear-off coupons in the greeting card aisle - 99 cents off any Hallmark Expressions purchase of 99 cents or more. This is not normally something I purchase at the grocery store, but I couldn't pass that up.

Something new: Swagbucks!

I have been reading about Swagbucks on Southernsavers.com, and I decided to give it a try. You basically get "bucks" for searching the internet just as you normally would. I have 17 Swagbucks so far. If I get to 45, I can get a $5 Amazon gift card (this is by far not the only prize offered, but it's the one I want!) My goal is to get enough Amazon gift cards to buy the Willow Tree Nativity that I've been wanting for years. This could take awhile! Anyway, I get credit for referrals, so if you want to give Swagbucks a whirl, here's the link! Awhile back, I posted about my running total of coupon savings since I started couponing in May of '09: Big Money.

Well, I sat down and added in the rest of my '09 savings, and the final grand total was $731.37! Again, that was just coupons, not sale price or B1G1 savings, etc. It was just the amount that my receipt came down because of coupons. I figure if I saved that much in basically half of 2009, then 2010 ought to be way higher than that!

I only recorded the amount that my receipt total decreased because of coupons). The total was $593.29! I couldn't believe it! I kept track of it on my blackberry, so I didn't have a total until I sat down and added it all up last week. I had no idea that it was that high. I am pumped! That is a ton of money!
